We were delighted to host an event as part of the 2015 Eat Cambridge Food Festival. It was a delight to be part of such a wonderful foodie scene in such a great city.

This time we headed to Fitzbillies which was a great opportunity to enjoy their delicious smoked salmon and the famous Porters pie.

The event started with a delicious welcome drink from Nyetimber accompanied by a wonderful array of charcuterie from Sedgwick’s Charcuterie. Neil from Nyetimber also gave us a great talk about the joys of English Sparkling wine, perfect as it was English Wine week.

The rest evening saw us enjoy the delights of Tim Haywards smoked salmon, followed by Porters pie and all wrapped up with macaroons. The food was wonderful.

We also enjoyed a talk from Tim Hayward as he explained why sourcing quality products from local businesses and creating a community, who want to use your business, is vital to the success of Fitzbillies. It was fascinating to hear the journey of Fitzbillies and the exciting plans they have for the future. It was fascinating to hear how they developed the Porters pie and are working on creating a pie that will be sold at the front of the shop as a take away, ensuring you can eat it on the go without having gravy down your front, but not losing any of that delicious taste!

The evening was topped off with many of the producers kindly donating raffle prizes which enabled us to raise £180.00 for the Nepal Earthquake appeal with the British Red Cross.

We thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many new faces and Grub Club Cambridge regulars, and it was wonderful to hear about all the exciting things that are happening via connections made at Grub Club Cambridge events.
