Childerley Hall for British Food Fortnight

Sep 2016

We have something really special planned for our next event, our 2nd Birthday Bash!

September 22nd see us in the beautiful setting of Childerley Hall.

Childerley Hall is the surviving red brick wing of a celebrated Elizabethan House, where Charles I was once held under house arrest. Our event will be held in the aptly-named ‘Long Barn’ – thought to be one of the longest timber-framed barns of its type in England.

Once again we’ll be celebrating our birthday in conjunction with British Food Fortnight, and what better caterers for the event than FoodCycle Cambridge!

FoodCycle is a national charity that combines volunteers, surplus food and spare kitchen spaces to create tasty, nutritious meals for people at risk of food poverty and social isolation.

The Cambridge FoodCycle Hub serves a delicious lunch at Wesley Methodist Church each Saturday to a range of people from the community. They work in partnership with local organisations such as the Cambridge Love Food Hate Waste campaign. Each week they collect surplus produce locally from Sainsbury’s, the City Food Bank, Cambridge Crop Share, the Cambridge Fruit and Veg Company and Lensfield Road Farmer’s Market. They then turn these ingredients into exciting and nutritious meals for our service users to enjoy.
