Post-Event Round Up – Love Food, Love Networking
- posted in: Uncategorized

What a fantastic start to our networking year, with our first event at Provenance Kitchen’s new Brix & Mortar restaurant in Whittlesford. They only opened their doors on the 22nd of January, and it is not hard to see why they are already the talk of the town!
We arrived to a delicious and refreshing welcome drink from Percival & Co, with their hard tonic a light, lower alcohol premixed drink, which proved very popular. It is always so rewarding to see a new product being enjoyed, and it was great to hear about all the connections Lucy, founder of Percival & Co made on the night along with potential new stockists too.
Our delicious three-course menu from the talented chefs at Provenance Kitchen comprising of:
Starters
Juniper Smoked Sea Trout, Fennel, Blood Orange, Parsley
Celeriac Soup, Hazelnuts, Apple, Sourdough
Mains
Grilled Stone Bass, Smoked Parsnip, Spinach, Norfolk Shrimp Butter
Suffolk Lamb, Hasselback Potatoes, Kale, Black Garlic, Gremolata
Ember-Roasted Carrots, Fennel Hearts, Lentils, Yogurt, Onion
Desserts
Almond & Marmalade Tart, Local Honey Ice Cream
Poached Rhubarb, Vanilla Panacotta, Candied Almonds
The layout of Provenance is great as you can see the food cooking and watch it being plated at the pass which all added to the theatre of the evening. They are very proud of their local sourcing and the slow cooking process and so they should be as the quality of the food was exceptional and enjoyed whole-hearted by all attendees. It was a full house of clean plates.
Between courses, we heard from the lovely Frankie Fox founder of the hugely successful Foraging Fox brand. It was great to hear Frankie share her tips and advice about her journey so far, it truly inspired everyone in the room. We were also delighted to hear that she has just been listed with Walmart in the US.
In her words, everyone needs a lucky Jacket, so we are off to get ours. We will be sharing Frankie’s top tips across social media soon, so watch out for them.
We would also like to thank the sponsors of the evening for the wonderful goodie bags. Kale and Damson had given everyone a celeriac (inspired by the soup on the menu) with the challenge of how do you cook yours? We look forward to seeing all your recipes on social media.
Our next event is on 30th April at the new Alconbury Weald Studios, the event will be catered for by Steak and Honour, and Jacks Gelato, with welcome drinks from Choya and the guest speaker will be the Craft Gin Club book your ticket now, as at this event you have the added advantage of getting your head photograph taken too.
