Puddingstone Distillery

Ben and Kate Marston, founders of Hertfordshire based Puddingstone Distillery are on a track to establish the first operating gin distillery in the Chilterns, bringing Campfire Gin to an eagerly awaiting audience.
Drawing on a wealth of branding, marketing and brewery industry experience, the couple admit to ‘metaphorically and literally immersing themselves in gin for the last 18 months, travelling the length and breadth of the country to meet with other distillers, source suppliers and investigate the myriad of production options available’.
Earlier this year they were the only non commercial producers invited to work on a unique collaboration project that saw a number of other established gin distillers each produce a single botanical for blending under the watchful eye of David T Smith. The resulting 32 bottles of Distillers Together gin only being available to a select few.
The couple whose final test batch gin recently won over a non gin drinker live on BBC radio are currently promoting a crowd funding campaign on the crowdfunder.co.uk platform.
‘We’re doing this not only to leverage in a little more start up capital but also to build upon the great connections we’ve made across the region. Our distillery forms part of a larger project to create a destination for food and drink lovers and will act as a platform for promoting a number of events designed to promote engagement with the surrounding environment. The response to date has been incredible with nearly £10K raised in 4 weeks. Many people have pledged as Christmas gifts for friends and family’.
Campfire Gin is described as drawing of the best of traditional London Dry and newer progressive styles with an initial burst of citrus and juniper leading to a rich warming mild, ending with sweet, slightly floral end. All this comes from 10 meticulously selected botanicals, a couple of which, we have been told, are quite unusual.
