We couldn’t be in a pub so why not have the nearly next best thing! Last week we gathered 33 guests online to chat about all things pub and food service related.

It was great to hear from George and the story of how his mobile pub started and what’s next around South West London for his mobile pub. He sounds like there are big expansion plans and the opportunity to offer food and a new van in a new location, so watch this space.

During the evening we also heard from Allisha who runs The Ship Inn Southfleet. It was great to hear how she had started by selling fish and chips and pivoted to home deliveries of food parcels. Needless to say she can’t wait to open on the 12th of April.

It was a great melting pot of ideas and opportunities for collaboration. It was fascinating to hear the different views, options and stories of how different businesses from the borders in Scotland to the heart of the london’s finance district are coping. It seems to be easier to pivot if you have more chimneys around you. 

The evening was our most global evening so far, with guests attending from Scotland, Spain and various locations around the UK. This enabled us to get a wide variety of views as to how trade was and what impact COVID restrictions had. 

We also heard from Chris at The Hare on The Green in Cambridgeshire about he had just started a new farm shop offering a wide variety of products and was sourcing those through connections he had made at Grub Club. He confessed to being surprised as to how much British cheese he was selling as is his supplier Perry at Rennett & Rind
